    First climate records begin

    The earliest climate records and meteorological operations for Niue were managed through the Telecom Department.

  2. 1996 Established

    Niue Meteorological Service established

    The Niue Meteorological Service was formally established at Hanan Airport.

  3. 1997 Operational

    Becomes an operational service

    Niue Meteorology became a fully operational service, delivering routine forecasts, observations and warnings.

  4. 2023 Modern

    Automatic Weather Stations installed

    Automatic Weather Stations (AWS) were installed at Liku and Vaipapahi, expanding real-time monitoring across the island.
